
APPLE WALNUT PIE

Apple Walnut Pie is so delicious any time of the year.
Allergic to nuts? Just leave them out, or even better, put them on the side for the lucky people who CAN have them.
APPLE FILLING
▢ 1 pound Honey Crisp apples
▢ 1.5 pound Granny Smith apples
▢ 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
▢ 1 Tbsp cinnamon
▢ 1/2 tsp almond extract
▢ 1 tsp vanilla extract
▢ 1 tsp nutmeg
▢ 1/3 c packed brown sugar
▢ Pinch Salt

Peel and slice apples

Put apples and remaining ingredients into a large pot and cook over medium heat for roughly 1o minutes or until apples are slightly softened.
WALNUTS
▢ 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
▢ 4 oz chopped walnuts
▢ 1/3 c packed brown sugar
▢ 1 tsp cinnamon
▢ 1/8 c water

Combine Ingredients in a medium sauce pan over medium heat.

Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes stirring often.

Remove from heat and set aside.
ASSEMBLY

Pour pie filling into barely golden bottom crust.

Spoon walnuts and sauce on top of apples.

Place dough or dough cut outs on top of pie filling working from the outside to the center of the pie.

Melt 1 tbsp of butter and brush the top of your pie crust.

Sprinkle with brown sugar.

Loosely cover outer edge of pie with foil or use a crust shield.

Bake for 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
